“BOLINGO” MISUNDERSTOOD FOR SEX – STORMMY CRIES OUT
Music is one of the numerous forms of sending out messages these days and if done with the right “ingredient” can achieve a great deal of influence as it is a way of life on its own.
Caleb Osumanu musically known as Stormmy whose slogan is the bouncy baby boy has come out to explain the meaning of his term “BOLINGO” based on argument that came up during his interview with Mr. M host of Hot Sauce on Crystal TV.
The musician said: ‘in our music world we need to create terms for fans to be able to use as a means of communication hence that is what I did with the term ‘BOLINGO’. He also cited that in this modern day, people tend to create their own unique names which they use in calling after loved ones and people dear to them. So in order to relate with his fans out there he decided to bring out “BOLINGO”.
Mr. M Opposed the idea behind Bolingo as he said hearing the song clearly gives the listener a different meaning which he associated with sex. Stormmy however knew the misconception people had about the song saying even at a sister TV station they also claimed the word BOLINGO means sex, so they will not show the video and they are not showing it, even though “I am paying for the air time but in actual terms it is not”.
Resulting in getting exhausted, Stormy explained BOLINGO simply means “call someone” which is a popular Nigerian term used by a lot of Nigerians and he picked that up as a result of growing up with Nigerians. As such he decided to introduce the slang to Ghana.
