Fat Joes Sheds Pounds For New ‘Drop A Body’ Video

In the new Eif Rivera-directed video for the previously released “Drop A Body” track from Bronx veteran Fat Joe, the usually husky rapper has seemingly gone on a new healthy kick and shed his signature pounds that helped form his namesake. No longer a heavyweight, the newly svelte Joey Crack delivers some hard rhymes over an aggressive, horn-laced beat that is as chaotic as the visually dizzying video and sinister backdrops that accompany the song reportedly from his upcoming The Darkside Vol. II project.

Halfway through the video, Cooked Coke Crack switches up from the apocalyptic images and takes on Pusha T’s epic “My God” track and provides some visuals to go along with his freestyle of the same name. Less visually stirring than “Drop A Body,” this portion of the clip finds a much more subdued Fat Joe using the backdrop of darkened city streets, unfocused car lights in the distance and sweeping camera views of Joe glowering for the camera and ambling about.

Fans had plenty to say about Fat Joe’s latest clip and new slim look, especially on Twitter. “Yooo....i just seen Fat.....Slim Joe's video Drop A Body....insane,” remarked user @TracQaeda. User @ThroatChopU added, “I guess it's safe to say that Fat Joe literally dropped a body losing 75lbs showcased in the new vid.”

Comments on Fat Joe’s weight loss didn’t end there. “Hearing him rap as great as he does in this great, and seeing him as a Not-So-Fat Joe makes me wonder what could have been had Big Pun and Biggie survived,” observed user @thisisjohnbook. One fan also quipped that the song sounded similar to another New York giant’s track. “This Fat Joe "Drop a Body" song reminds me WAY TOO MUCH of that Hov song off blueprint 1 that just blaze did,” said user @MrPopularDemand.

It should be noted that Fat Joe is currently in Africa and has been for a few weeks now. Joey is no stranger to the continent, having rocked shows in the country of Nigeria and touring in South Africa with R&B crooner Akon.

Is it too soon to refer to the South Bronx bomber as Slim Joe now?
